7 Tips for Dewy Summer Skin

  • 1 min read

As the earth tilts into the sun and our direct exposure to UV rays increases, the discomfort of dry and sensitive skin may also increase. Let's show our skin some extra love this summer with these helpful tips!

1. Bring Your Own Shade

Wearing wide-brimmed hats and rash guards with UPF fabric will help protect your skin from UV rays, decreasing the potential for sunburn and irritation. Parasols are also a fun option for those who like a little extra shade and sophistication!

2. Slather Up

Chemical and mineral sunscreens with SPF 30 or higher help protect your skin from UV rays. Most sunscreens recommend applying the product 15 minutes before sun exposure, so make sure to plan ahead!

3. Hello, H₂O

It’s what all our parents say—remember to drink water! Staying hydrated helps you feel your best and is essential for your organs to function properly. As the skin is our biggest organ, it stands a lot to gain from consistent hydration.

4. Quench Your Skin

Sometimes our skin gets thirsty, too. Moisturizers help hydrate our skin and can include other ingredients that may benefit skin, such as niacinamide, vitamin C, and hyaluronic acid.

5. Create Your Own Humidity

If the relative humidity in your home is too low, a humidifier can help. Using ultrasonic vibrations, fans, or heat, humidifiers speed up the evaporation process to put moisture back into your air.

Not sure if your indoor humidity is too low? Look for a smart humidifier with a built-in humidity sensor. Then you can receive updates about your home’s humidity level and change the settings from anywhere.

6. Cooler Showers

You don’t have to forgo comfort, but steamy showers may strip oil from your skin and leave it drier than before. Monitor the temperature of your shower to make sure you’re not drying out your skin.

7. Home Facials

Moisturizing face masks can give dry and irritated skin a quick boost of hydration. Find one that works well for your skin type and have a spa night at home!
